change we can believe in

Ok, so the change I’m talking about probably won’t involve reconciliation with foreign nations, taxing the very life out of the private business sector, or waking up one day and realizing ‘Oh crap. That’s not capitalism, that’s socialism‘, but it’s exciting change nonetheless. On a related, but-you-don’t-know-why-yet note: my husband is a genius. He has far too many fort√©s for his own good and he’s always trying (and able) to fix things. I don’t mean just the standard “I am man. Must fix. ::grunt and beat chest::” way, but in the “Oh, we did $2500 worth of damage to our car? NBD, I’ll have it up and running in 4 to 5 months flat.” kind of way. This urge of his is hard to understand at times, but downright wonderful at others… like when you have a blog and you want to make it look prettier [read: ridiculously fabulous redesign that is totally perfect and exactly what I always wanted].That’s all I’ll say for now, but just know that my husband is a web design prodigy, so you should probably be expecting big things. That’s not just a campaign trail promise either; this change is actually coming and it’s actually going to be good. Me? I’ll just keep on doing what I do: openly sharing the thoughts that cross my mind and events that fill my days with friends and readers (who are friends I just haven’t met yet!). Are you with me?…this is the part where you all start chanting my last name in unison. No? First name, then? Maybe a rousing round of ‘yes we can’…?

Mural at Bodega for NONE MORE BLACK..

Finished

A few weeks ago I previewed a little sneak peek of the show NONE MORE BLACK that I am curating at 4th Wall Project, featuring work by Bill Dunlap, Chad Chesko, Tony Bevilacqua and Elisabeth Timpone. We're getting ready for the show to open this Friday. There is lots to do so there will probably be limited posting here on the bloggy. To tide you over and for those of you who can't make it to Boston, I've got pics of Chad and Tony working on the mural they painted for the show at Bodega last week.

Bigfoot in Boston at blvd..

Bigfootblvd

This Friday Bigfoot comes to Boston via local skate shop BLVD. I stopped by yesterday and grabbed some pics. Co-owner Chris pulled out a limited edition board to show me, hand drawn and signed on one side awesome graphics on the other. Bigfoot in Boston opens at 8-11. See you there!

quick! post the Christmas pictures! before theyre irrelevant!

(Attn. architecture and design gurus: the great-grandparents live in a house that Frank Lloyd Wright designed for them. True story. If you look closely at the pictures, you can see some classic Wright angles and styles, especially in the furniture.)(Get it? Wright angles? Bahaha.)A very Swedish Christmas Eve dinner at OBaby’s Great Grandpa and Great Grandma’s house:So dapper in a tie. Sorry, little ladies. Lad’s spoken for already.DanO, helping to earn our keep at the kids’ table. (And well, he’s spoken for, too.)(Yes we were at the kids’ table. Word is it’s because of OBaby, but I have my theories.)Post-meal lethargy. So. Many. Swedish. Meatballs.I call this one: Luckiest Woman Alive. The O Family has a Christmas Eve tradition of lighting a candle at each spot while saying “Jesus said, “I am the light of the world.”" OBaby got to “participate” this year.Another O Family Christmas Eve tradition: Great Grandpa reads the Christmas story. And the women get teary eyed.Merry Christmas!(OBaby would like you to know that he is “all done” taking pictures, now.)And that he is positively terrified of “Santa”.~~~~~~Christmas morning:OBaby was given several pieces of outdoor clothing from my parents, and naturally he wanted to wear them all simultaneously. Ah, toddlers.Biggest hit of the day: A genuine Black & Decker tool kit from DanO and me.The kid has been “drilling holes” in everything since. Please ignore my bizarre facial expression, because other than that this is a precious picture.OBaby’s other gift from Daddy and Mommy: A pint-sized chair that matches our couch. When we are not drilling holes in it, we are climbing up into it with books.Love.~~~~~~I hope you had a beautiful Christmas celebration!

speaking of the house project of the decade video!

The first part of this video is me climbing the stairs. The rest of it is me catching my breath. The pictures are older than the video (which is why you can see the screws and seams in the sheetrock), but they don’t come with a sound track of me panting, so there’s that.:: :: :: :: :: ::I also wrote about marriage today. Two posts in one day?! And a video?! I know. Consider it penance for earlier this week. And last week. And just lately in general.

Buff Monster Heavy Metal Ice Cream Smile..

Buffmonster4

Heavy Metal Ice Cream Smile, Buff Monster's solo show opening at Corey Helford this Saturday is quite possibly one of the best titles I've heard in a while. Then you pair it with the explosive sherbert colors abundant in all of Buff Monster's new work and it just sings. Ahhh, synergy. Heavy Metal Ice Cream Smile opens this Saturday.
